Councilmember Tommy Wells, Chairperson of the Committee on Libraries, Parks, Recreation, and Planning, announces a public roundtable on the nominees for the Historic Preservation Review Board. The public roundtable is scheduled for Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Room 123 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.

The purpose of the roundtable is to receive public comment on the Mayor's nomination of:

Andrew P. Aurbach for appointment as a historian member of the Historic Preservation Review Board, for a term to end July 21, 2013.

Joseph E. Taylor for reappointment as an architect member of the Historic Preservation Review Board, for a term to end July 21, 2014.

Robert C. Sonderman for reappointment as an archaeologist member of the Historic Preservation Review Board, for a term to end July 21, 2014.

Gretchen K. Pfaehler for appoinment as an architectural historian member of the Historic Preservatio n Review Board, replacing Pamela Scott, for a term to end July 21, 2012.

D. Graham Davidson for appointment as a public member of the Historic Preservation Review Board, replacing Elinor Bacon, for a term to end July 21, 2013.

Rauzia R. Ally for appointment as a historic architecture member of the Historic Preservation Review Board, replacing Christopher Landis, whose term expired July 21, 2011, for a term to end July 21, 2014.

The Historic Preservation Review Board is an official advisory body that guides the government and public on preservation matters. As the State Review Board, HPRB also assists with the implementation of federal preservation programs and the review of federal projects in the District. The Board is comprised of nine members who serve staggered 3-year terms.

The Committee invites the public to testify. Testimony may be limited to 3 minutes for individuals and 5 minutes for those representing organizations or groups. Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify should register online or contact Tawanna Shuford at 727-8232 or tshuford@dccouncil.us, and furnish their name, address, telephone number, and organizational affiliation, if any, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Witnesses should bring 15 copies of their testimony and, if possible, to email and electronic copy to Ms. Shuford.

If you are unable to testify at the public hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made part of the official record. Written statements should be submitted by 5 pm Wednesday, February 29, 2012 to Ms. Shuford, Committee on Libraries, Parks, Recreation, and Planning, Room 117, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC, 20004, or via email at tshuford@dccouncil.us.
